What would the December holidays be like without seeing the exciting production of 'Sleeping Beauty' at the National Children's Theatre (NCT), Parktown, Johannesburg? Multi award winning director Joyce Levinsohn has adapted this classic, originally written over three hundred years ago by French author Charles Perrault, for modern-day audiences. Musical direction is by the well known Saranti Reeders and set by experienced and talented Graham Brown.
When a beautiful princess falls under the spell of a wicked sorceress, only the sweet kiss of a handsome prince can save her from eternal sleep. From 'once upon a time' to 'happily ever after' this fun, interactive tale of fairy godmothers, magic spells and true love is enchanting enough to excite the children and with wit enough to make the occasion special for adults too.
Following on the smash-hit production of 'Puss in Boots and other Tails', 'Sleeping Beauty' is a romantic, thrill-filled show that combines a gripping story and lively music. A kaleidoscope of colourful costumes and a unique set, for which the NCT is famed, will assist a dynamic cast in transporting audiences into the fantasy world of make believe.
'Sleeping Beauty' opens at the National Children's Theatre, 3 Junction Avenue, Parktown, in Johannesburg. Bookings can be made through Computicket: 083-915-8000 / Strictly Tickets 082-553-5903 or the theatre: 011-484-1584.
